The aims of EURA are:
- To provide a European forum for people from different disciplines and policy backgrounds to exchange information about and findings from research on towns and cities as the basis for closer co-operation
- To encourage interdisciplinary and cross-national approaches to research in and education for urban and regional studies as a professional and academic field
- To bridge the gaps between academic, professional and policy interests, inform public debate and improve the quality of urban policy

The European Urban Research Association has six membership categories:
- Institution (members of their staff are eligible for reduced rates at EURA events)
Annual fee: € 240 - Institution: from Eastern Europe (members of their staff are eligible for reduced rates at EURA events)

As of July 2022, EURA annual fee corresponds to the period between 1st January to 31st December.
