Overview:
CIFAR invites outstanding early career researchers from across the natural, biomedical, life and social sciences and the humanities to join one of four interdisciplinary research programs that address some of the most important questions facing science and humanity.
The CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars program is designed to accelerate the development of early career researchers in their pivotal first years as independent principal investigators in an academic or research institution, with responsibilities for research and teaching.
CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars are emerging leaders in their field, with a high-impact record of innovative research, who are motivated to advance their influence through interdisciplinary collaboration with some of the world’s most renowned researchers, expand their networks, access mentorship and training in leadership and communication, and gain cross-sector exposure, to position themselves as influential leaders and agents of change in academia and beyond.

Eligibility:
Applicants may be based anywhere in the world, must hold a PhD (or equivalent) and be within the first five years of starting a full-time research position at an institution of higher education or research. Scholars' research interests should complement the themes and goals of a recruiting CIFAR research program.
NOTE: Postdoctoral fellows are NOT eligible to apply.

What you will receive as a CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar:
- A two-year term in a CIFAR research program, a global, interdisciplinary network of leading researchers
- $100,000 CAD in unrestricted research support
- Mentorship from a senior researcher within a CIFAR research program

- Specialized leadership and communication skills training, and support to put your skills into action
Important dates:
- CIFAR will begin accepting applications for the 2024-2026 cohort on August 30, 2023
- The application deadline is October 30, 2023
