The EURA Working Group on Municipal Councillors in Europe continues to advance its research and collaboration efforts.
On 16–17 May 2024, members of the working group met in Sarajevo to finalise plans for the forthcoming two-volume publication on the survey of municipal councillors, which will be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2026. The meeting also provided an opportunity to plan the group’s next major project: a new survey of mayors, the third of its kind conducted by the group over the past two decades.
Two preparatory workshops for this survey are already scheduled:
- 14–16 November 2025 in Darmstadt
- 7–10 May 2026 in La Cristalera (near Madrid)
In parallel, the working group is also expanding its collaboration through joint teaching activities, supported by the ERASMUS Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). This programme encourages cross-national courses involving both in-person and virtual learning phases.
The first BIP was held from 23 to 27 June 2025 in Darmstadt, with participants from Darmstadt, Madrid, Turku, Zurich, and Warsaw. Contributing lecturers included Björn Egner, Linnéa Henriksson, Hubert Heinelt, Stefan Kalberer, Daniel Kübler, Marta Lackowska, and Carmen Navarro.
