It is with great sadness that we report the death of Professor Murray Stewart – a highly respected and much-loved urban scholar who was a key driving force in the creation of the European Urban Research Association (EURA) in the 1990s.

The EURA working group held its largest workshop yet at TU Darmstadt (15–16 Nov 2025), launched preparations for a new survey of mayors (questionnaire to be finalized in La Cristalera, 7–10 May 2026), advanced the PROFLOC project with country reports toward a joint publication and future survey, and formally adopted its internal working rules.

EURA launches a new Working Group, “Flexible, Healthy and Liveable Public Spaces,” focused on how public-space design can support health, inclusiveness and adaptability. The WG will map international best practices (e.g., healthy streets, proximity spaces, campuses, waterfronts) and develop transferable guidance for planning.
