#78 Could ‘free money’ for citizens help address inequality in European cities?

In recent years, a substantial number of U.S. cities have introduced basic income policies. The proliferation of this novel approach to social protection in a country marked by skepticism towards any social spending, raises the possibility that European cities will soon move on the policy. The central idea of basic income is regular, unconditional cash transfers. The goal of universal basic income designates everybody a recipient regardless of means. #75 Urban mobility as a political conflict

Car-free zones have become a new normal in many European cities. Cities like Paris, Milan, London and Oslo have restricted car-driving in the city centres to improve air quality, reduce congestion, and enhance urban amenities. Car-free zones are seen as a key means of reducing emission from transport and to reach climate neutrality by 2050.
